Drawing Parts in RFQs: Supplier suggestions & importing drawings

Learn how Tacto Intelligence suggests Suppliers for RFQs on Drawing Parts and attaches drawings to RFQ Articles.

Overview

When you create an RFQ for Drawing Parts, Tacto Intelligence suggests suitable Suppliers. The suggestions are based on the stored drawings of the requested Articles and on previous Supply Sources. In addition, you can automatically attach the current drawing files to the Articles of the RFQ.

What this means in practice:

  • Suggested Suppliers based on similar drawings and previous Supply Sources, including a reason (e.g. "Supplies similar parts" or "Similar drawing to Article … (85 % match)")

  • The suggestions can be adjusted at any time – remove or add Suppliers

  • Drawing files are automatically assigned to the matching RFQ Articles

Typical use cases:

  • Quick start into a new RFQ for Drawing Parts

  • Identify suitable Suppliers for a specific manufacturing process

  • Extend your own Supplier selection with suitable candidates

How it works

Prerequisites

  • The RFQ module must be activated in your account.

  • The Drawing Parts area must be enabled for your organization.

  • For suggestions based on similar drawings, drawings must be stored for the requested Articles.

Review and apply suggested Suppliers

  1. Create an RFQ for the desired Drawing Parts.

  2. Go to the Suppliers step. If no Supplier has been selected yet, click Review & Add to review and apply the suggestions. Depending on the configuration of your account, Tacto also adds the suggested Suppliers automatically.

  3. Review the preselection and adjust it if necessary – remove unsuitable Suppliers or add others.

Depending on the configuration of your account, the suggestions also appear when publishing in the Suggested suppliers dialog. Select the desired Suppliers there and click Add and continue or Skip and publish.

Attach drawings to RFQ Articles

  1. Open the RFQ and, in the Article table, click the Import attachments from Document Repository icon. The icon appears if a connection to your document repository has been set up for your organization.

  2. In the Import attachments dialog, click Start. Tacto retrieves the files and matches them with the RFQ Articles.

  3. Check the assignment and click Attach files. Only files that could be assigned to an Article are attached.

Permissions & access

  • All Users who are allowed to edit RFQs can apply and adjust the suggestions as long as the RFQ is in draft.

  • No additional roles are required beyond the permission to edit RFQs.

Known limitations

  • Suggestions based on similar drawings are only available for Drawing Parts; for other Articles, the suggestions are based on previous Supply Sources.

  • Without stored drawings, no Suppliers can be suggested on the basis of drawings. A maximum of five Suppliers is suggested in total.
