Drawing Parts: overview, search & target prices

Learn how to search and filter Drawing Parts, run batch actions and view target prices with a cost breakdown.

Overview

Under Articles → Drawing Parts, you will find all Drawing Parts of your organization in a dedicated overview. Tacto Intelligence extracts the features from the drawings and – where possible – determines a target price including a cost breakdown.

What this means in practice:

  • Overview with a Grid view (preview images) and a List view (extracted features as columns)

  • Search with Tacto Intelligence: Describe the part in your own words – Article and drawing numbers still work

  • Filter and sort by the extracted features

  • Multi-select with batch actions

  • Target price for different lot sizes with a Cost breakdown on the detail page of a part

  • Similar parts from your own inventory

Typical use cases:

  • Buyers get an overview of all Drawing Parts of an organization

  • Similar parts are found via search (basis for identifying identical parts)

  • Target prices are justified in negotiations with a cost breakdown instead of just a single number

  • Narrow down parts by manufacturing process, material or other features

How it works

Prerequisites

  • The Drawing Parts area must be enabled for your organization by Tacto. Please contact your Tacto representative.

  • You need permission to view Articles.

Search Drawing Parts

  1. In the navigation, open Articles → Drawing Parts.

  2. Switch between Grid view and List view.

  3. Enter a search term in the search field. The search takes the meaning into account, not just the exact spelling. For numerical values (e.g. weight), use the filters.

  4. In the Grid view, sort by Recently updated, Name A–Z or Article number – and additionally by Relevance during a search with Tacto Intelligence. In the List view, sort by clicking the column headers.

Run batch actions

  1. Select multiple parts using the checkboxes.

  2. Choose an action: Create Request, Create RFQ or Delete. Requests and RFQs can be created for up to 200 parts at once; which actions are available depends on your permissions.

View target price and cost breakdown

  1. Click on a part to open its detail page.

  2. In the right-hand area under Extracted features, you will see the extracted values as well as Similar parts. Depending on what is enabled, the geometry (3D model or 2D drawing) is also displayed.

  3. If a target price is available, the Target price card shows the predicted price for different lot sizes. Select a Lot size to see the price and the Cost breakdown (e.g. material costs, production costs, overhead costs, margin) – including a comparison with the last order price.

Known limitations

  • The search covers the text information of a part (e.g. Article and drawing number, description, material, manufacturing process), not the geometry. Searching by drawing is not possible.

  • No prices are shown in the overview or in the search results; you can see the target price on the detail page of a part.

  • Only parts for which both a PDF drawing and a STEP file are available are analyzed.

  • A target price cannot be calculated for every part, e.g. if important information is missing or the manufacturing process is not supported.

  • Target price and geometry view on the detail page are being enabled gradually for all customers.

FAQ

Q: Can I search by drawing instead of text?

A: No. The search is based on the text information of a part, not on the geometry of the drawing.

Q: Do all my Drawing Parts automatically receive a target price?

A: All parts with a PDF drawing and a STEP file are analyzed. They receive a target price if the target price calculation supports the part. Parts without a STEP file are not analyzed.
